Love Letters | Boundaries | Satan

Then Jesus said, “Go away, Satan! It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.” Matt. 4:10
“You don’t need to go to church. Sunday’s your day and you worked hard this week. You can be closer to God by yourself.”
“Isn’t that girl hot? Take another look. Don’t you wonder what she’d be like? It’s okay. God understands you’re only human.”
“Oh, you’re not happy, are you? Just get a divorce. Everybody does. God’s not picky about divorce like He used to be.
Satan’s lies come in all kinds of brightly-colored wrapping paper, special-ordered just for you!
He doesn’t tempt you to turn rocks into bread or jump off a temple like He did Jesus, because those aren’t appealing to you. But what about sleeping with your new fling? What about reaching for another beer? And another? Ever wonder why some things used to bother you but don’t anymore? The reason: lies from the Father of Lies (John 8:44). Jesus showed us how to respond to such tempting lies because He expects us to treat Satan like He did. We find out what God’s word says and answer: “Get away from me, Temptation! Here’s what God says, and I will not sin against the Lord my God!” Satan can’t handle scripture. Throw it at him!
Final Thought: What lies has Satan whispered to you that makes your current sin seem okay?
Prayer: Father, I forgot that my enemy, Satan, is active in my life and out to destroy me with lies. I’ve been cooperating with him in many ways. Please forgive me and help me to recognize satanic lies when they come at me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
