What Are You Doing Here? | The Ache of Failure | Heal It All

What Are You Doing Here? | The Ache of Failure | Heal It All

I said, “Have mercy on me, LORD; heal me, for I have sinned against you.”   Psalm 41:4

“Announcing Super-Duper-Tack-O-Rama! The best all-around repair kit you’ll ever use. Makes broken things like new. Your gadgets will be stronger than they were before they were broken. It fixes lamps, cars, boats, glasses, pets, and even small children. Foundation cracks? No problem. Roof leaks? We’ve got you covered. We’re giving it away free to the first thousand callers, so call now! Operators are standing by. That’s Super-Duper-Tack-O-Rama, the only repair kit you’ll ever need!”

Wouldn’t it be great if there was such a repair kit for our lives? We could disappoint ourselves, but after applying a little Tack-O-Rama, our reputation would be restored. Consequences resolved. Relationships healed. Hearts mended. When we’ve blown it big time, we look for a magic fix, but even the late-night shopping channel doesn’t have what we need. Fortunately, our God is in the repair business. When we confess our sin and turn from it, the Lord, our great Healer, can make our broken places stronger than they were before. He heals our wounded souls and then uses our failures to help someone else. God is standing by to apply His Tack-O-Rama to all the broken places in our lives, but we’ve got to hand Him all the pieces. Call now!

Final Thought:  Failure can be a permanent wound or a place of greater strength depending on what you do with the pieces.
Prayer: Lord, search my heart. Have I let past disappointments and failures become scars that hinder my progress? I’m ready to work with you to repair my heart. I confess my part in the brokenness and ask you to heal me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
